Susan McIntosh

High School Bible Teacher - Old and New Testament

Susan McIntosh’s path into teaching was anything but predictable. What began as a calling to missions eventually unfolded into a lifelong journey in education, one that she now continues at Vacaville Christian School.

After attending seminary with the intention of entering the mission field, Mrs. McIntosh spent several years serving as a Children’s Minister. It was during that season that she first stepped into a classroom, teaching second grade at a Christian school. What started as an experiment soon revealed something deeper. Teaching, particularly teaching God’s Word, had quietly become a passion.

That calling grew even more personal when she began homeschooling her own children. What she initially described as “only for one year” ultimately became a complete K through 12 journey. Though she has tried stepping away from teaching at various points, the pull toward education consistently remained. “Teaching, especially teaching God’s Word, is a passion of mine,” she shares. “I am so happy to get to do that daily at VCS. It is a privilege to teach here.”

“Teaching, especially teaching God’s Word, is a passion of mine.”

Faith is central to everything Mrs. McIntosh brings to the classroom. While teaching the Bible naturally integrates spiritual discussions, her goal extends beyond instruction. She strives to make Scripture come alive for students. “My faith influences everything,” she explains. “I get to pray for students and with them. I feel that I am planting lots of seeds of God’s Word into their hearts and lives.”

A verse that guides her work is Colossians 3:23: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” This reminder reflects both her dedication to teaching and the purpose she sees in her role.

Mrs. McIntosh’s life experiences have shaped her perspective in meaningful ways. She has lived in five states, Washington D.C., a United States territory, and two foreign countries. These varied experiences bring a broad worldview and depth of understanding to her teaching.

Students quickly recognize one of her consistent classroom expectations: answering questions in complete sentences. This simple but memorable trademark reflects her emphasis on thoughtful communication and careful engagement with ideas.

Outside the classroom, Mrs. McIntosh enjoys going on walks. She also appreciates storytelling in many forms, citing The Devil Wears Prada as a favorite film and the book of Jonah as her favorite book of the Bible.

Mrs. McIntosh holds an Associate’s Degree in Fashion Design, a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, and a Master’s Degree in Religious Education. Her diverse academic background, ministry experience, and enduring passion for Scripture continue to shape a classroom where students are encouraged to think deeply and engage meaningfully with God’s Word.

While her journey into teaching may have been unexpected, her impact in the classroom is unmistakably intentional.
