Robert Brady brings a uniquely rich background to the classroom. After a career in law enforcement, where he was extensively involved in departmental training, he discovered a passion for mentoring and encouraging others. That experience, combined with a desire to invest in students, led him to pursue his teaching credential through the University of Nevada Lake Tahoe and ultimately transition into education.
Now in his fourth year at VCS, Mr. Brady especially values the strong camaraderie among staff and the meaningful daily interactions with students. His classroom reflects both structure and care, shaped by his academic training and his commitment to building strong relationships. He holds a Master of Arts in History from California State University East Bay and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, Law and Society, foundations that deeply inform his approach to teaching humanities.
“I view every student as God’s creation and strive to lead with both truth and compassion.”
Faith plays a central role in his work. Mr. Brady strives to view every student as God’s creation, encouraging believing students to deepen their walk with the Lord while also modeling love, respect, and clear boundaries for those still exploring their faith. His goal is to foster an environment where students feel supported, valued, and challenged to grow both academically and personally.
A verse that guides his work is James 5:16: “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” This verse reflects his belief in honesty, prayer, and the importance of community.
Outside the classroom, Mr. Brady enjoys karate, reading history, spending time with family, and playing keyboards, with a particular love for progressive jazz and rock. One of the most meaningful parts of his story is his family. He and his wife have seven children, and in their fifties chose to adopt a four year old son who now attends VCMS and is one of the greatest blessings of their lives.
Students often describe Mr. Brady’s teacher trademark as his approachability and compassion.
In addition to teaching, Mr. Brady occasionally plays with the staff worship band, further reflecting his deep connection to the VCS community.
