Katelynn Koon

Elementary Teacher - 4th Grade

For Katelynn Koon, teaching has always been the plan. From an early age, she knew she wanted to be in the classroom, a calling that has now grown into her fifth year at Vacaville Christian School. After spending four years teaching second grade, she is excited to begin a new chapter in fourth grade.

Mrs. Koon was drawn to Vacaville Christian School by its intentional integration of biblical truth throughout the curriculum. The opportunity to share God’s Word daily and build a community of like-minded learners continues to be one of the most meaningful parts of her work.

Faith is central to her teaching philosophy. She believes her relationship with Christ shapes not only how she teaches, but also how she supports and encourages her students. “My faith drives my teaching and guides the words that I use every day,” she shares. “The Holy Spirit guides the words that I say when I am teaching and supporting my students in every circumstance.”

“My faith drives my teaching and guides the words that I use every day.”

A verse that deeply resonates with Mrs. Koon is Colossians 3:23: “Whatever you do, work heartily, as if working for the Lord, not for man.” This reminder influences both her approach to teaching and the example she hopes to model for her students.

Mrs. Koon’s academic journey reflects her passion for education. She began at community college, earning her associate’s degree in Childhood Development, before transferring to Sacramento State where she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies along with a minor in American Sign Language. She recently earned her Master of Arts in Teaching from Western Governors University.

Outside the classroom, Mrs. Koon enjoys coloring, reading, and embracing her well-known love of Disney. Her favorite book is One Child, and when it comes to entertainment, she enjoys Treasure Planet and Gilmore Girls, a combination that reflects both imagination and comfort.

While she feels that her teacher trademark is still in the making, her heart for students, love for learning, and faith-centered approach are already leaving a meaningful impression on her classroom community.
