6th & 7th Grade History teacher
K–12 Musical Theater Director
Walk into Mrs. Meagan Stotler’s classroom and you’ll quickly notice two things: learning is never boring, and there may be a rubber duck watching you from a shelf. With more than 300 ducks in her room and a teaching style that includes dramatic reenactments, props, and hands-on projects, Mrs. Stotler has a gift for making history come alive.
Now in her fourth year at Vacaville Christian School, Mrs. Stotler teaches 6th and 7th grade history and leads K–12 musical theater. Her passion for teaching was shaped early on by educators who invested deeply in her life. In high school, a dance teacher gave her opportunities to lead and assist with choreography; experiences that planted the seeds for a future in education and the arts.
“I love projects. History can easily become a boring memorization of dates and names. I want students to be hands-on with their learning.”
That philosophy comes to life daily in her classroom, where students might find her acting out ten characters from an ancient myth, pulling out theatrical props, or, on occasion, doing a somersault to illustrate a moment in history. Her students would likely say that her dramatic flair and unforgettable classroom atmosphere are her trademark.
Mrs. Stotler’s teaching is grounded in her faith and guided by Proverbs 22:6: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and even when he is old he will not depart from it.” While she values strong academics, her priorities are clear. “At the end of the day, I care more if my students know and love Jesus than if they remember what happened in Ancient Greece,” she says. “I want them to feel the love of Jesus through my interactions with them.”
Beyond the classroom, Mrs. Stotler has made a significant impact on the broader VCS community. She has helped lead the Middle School retreat for the past three years and played a key role in producing the school’s first K-12 musical last year. This year, the tradition continues with Aladdin Jr., and she credits the success of these musicals to the support of Ms. Bruner, her sister, and Mrs. Edgar, whose partnership has been instrumental.
One of the things Mrs. Stotler cherishes most about VCS is its community. “The other teachers are some of my closest friends,” she shares. “They’ve prayed with me and for me.” Through those relationships, she’s also built meaningful friendships with parents and even met her husband through connections made at VCS.
Outside of school, she enjoys bass fishing, hiking, renovating her home with her husband, and seeing musicals with her family. She’s also a fan of Night by Elie Wiesel, National Treasure, and The Office – a combination that reflects both her love of history and her sense of humor.
Mrs. Stotler holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Sacramento State University and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Liberty University. Her education, creativity, and faith-filled approach continue to shape a classroom where students are known, challenged, and encouraged; both academically and spiritually.
At Vacaville Christian School, Mrs. Stotler doesn’t just teach history. She invites students into it, reminding them that learning can be joyful, meaningful, and rooted in purpose.
