Gary Dreibelbis EdD

Radio Director KVCB 100.9 FM

Gary Dreibelbis brings both professional experience and genuine enthusiasm to the Fine Arts Department at Vacaville Christian School. Now in his fourth year, Dr. Dreibelbis shares his passion for radio with middle and high school students, a subject that has shaped much of his career.

His journey into teaching was influenced by his professors at Northern Illinois University, whose mentorship helped cultivate both his academic interests and his love for broadcasting. That foundation eventually led him into a dynamic career that included working as a radio D.J. in Washington D.C. and Chicago, along with serving as a movie critic for WHOI-TV, ABC, in Peoria, Illinois.

In the classroom, Dr. Dreibelbis strikes a thoughtful balance between rigor and relatability. “I take my subject seriously, but I do not take myself too seriously,” he shares. His teaching philosophy emphasizes both excellence and approachability, creating an environment where students feel comfortable engaging, creating, and growing.

“Do not let anyone think less of you because you are young.”

Faith plays a central role in his perspective as an educator. Guided by the principle that grace comes first, Dr. Dreibelbis seeks to model patience, encouragement, and respect in his interactions with students. A verse that shapes his work is I Timothy 4:12: “Do not let anyone think less of you because you are young, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.” This reminder reflects his desire to help students recognize their value, voice, and potential.

Students know him affectionately by a memorable trademark: “I AM Dr. Dre,” a reflection of his humor and the strong rapport he builds within his classes.

Dr. Dreibelbis holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wheaton College and both a Master’s degree and Doctorate from Northern Illinois University. His academic training and industry background continue to shape a program that gives students meaningful, real-world exposure to broadcasting and media.

Beyond the classroom, Dr. Dreibelbis has contributed to the school community by working with Mike DaSilva to upgrade the KVCB 100.9 FM studio, enhancing opportunities for student learning and creativity.

Outside of school, he enjoys baseball, reading, and dining with friends. His love of storytelling extends into his personal interests, with favorite books by Mitch Albom and a fondness for the classic film The Sting, which he describes as pure entertainment.

While his classroom may center on radio, Dr. Dreibelbis’ impact reaches far beyond the studio, encouraging students to develop confidence, creativity, and their own unique voice.
