Josie Krulick, Class of 2028: A True Champion On and Off the Field

When people talk about what it means to be a student-athlete who leads with faith, character, and determination, one name always stands out: Josie Krulick. Whether she’s competing on the cross-country course, working hard in the classroom, or encouraging a teammate, Josie’s strength and integrity shine through in everything she does. As a star cross-country runner for Vacaville Christian High School, Josie has already made her mark on the program’s history. During her freshman season, she suffered a major injury that limited her to her full potential. However, with unmatched focus and dedication, Josie returned in her sophomore season, breaking the school’s long-standing cross-country record by an astonishing 30 seconds, a record that had stood unchallenged for ten years. Her performance was a testament not only to her physical ability but also to her discipline, heart, and unwavering faith. But Josie’s story isn’t just about speed — it’s about faith and perseverance. After suffering an injury last year, Josie faced a challenging road to recovery. Yet through it all, she leaned into her faith and trusted God’s plan. She often says that the Lord is in control of her life, and she approaches every run and every challenge with the desire to glorify Him. Josie is completely unashamed of her Christian faith, and it shows in how she carries herself both on and off the course. She prays with and for her teammates, shares words of encouragement grounded in Scripture, and constantly gives credit to God for her successes. Her joy and confidence come from knowing her purpose to honor Christ in everything she does. On the course, Josie’s competitiveness and talent are undeniable. She’s so fast that she regularly keeps pace with and often outperforms many of the boys during training runs and meets. Her presence has raised the standard for both teams. Josie constantly pushes the girls to their limits, challenging them to be their best, while also motivating the boys with her work ethic and drive. She’s become a bridge between the boys’ and girls’ teams, uniting them through mutual respect and a shared pursuit of excellence. Her leadership has helped build a culture of teamwork and encouragement that has strengthened the entire program. In the classroom, Josie shows that same focus and determination. Her teachers describe her as diligent, thoughtful, and humble — a student who strives for excellence not for recognition, but as a reflection of her gratitude for the gifts God has given her. She balances her academic and athletic responsibilities with grace, proving that hard work and faith truly go hand in hand.

Josie’s sportsmanship sets her apart as much as her talent does. Whether she crosses the finish line first or faces setbacks, she does so with humility and grace. She’s the first to cheer for her teammates, the first to congratulate a competitor, and the first to remind everyone that success means nothing without character.

Josie Krulick represents the heart of a true champion — one whose faith grounds her, whose character defines her, and whose drive for excellence inspires everyone around her. She runs for something greater than herself, giving every stride, every breath, and every moment back to the One who gave her the ability. Her story is a powerful reminder that true greatness isn’t just about records or medals, it’s about living with purpose, leading with faith, and glorifying God in all things.

Don’t be afraid of something different. By different I mean the staff cares about your heart. They care about you as a person, not just a student.
