International Student | Class of 2027
When Wa Ming “Eason” Kwok came to Vacaville Christian High School from China, he was adjusting to more than a new school. He was finding his way in a new country, making friends, and looking for opportunities to challenge himself. Now a senior, Eason has become involved in school life through athletics, academics, and service, building relationships that have helped him feel at home.
Cross country and track and field have become an important part of his VCS experience. He competes in events ranging from the 100-meter sprint to the 800 meters, along with triple jump and long jump. Cross country takes him farther, with two-mile, three-mile, and 5K races. While most of his individual athletic recognition has come through track and field, one race stands out for what it taught him about perseverance.
“Teachers and coaches at VCS have supported me by encouraging me to go further than I thought I could.”
At that track meet, Eason pushed himself to a new personal record. He remembers feeling exhausted afterward and recognizing what it meant to keep going through a difficult moment. “Even though I felt exhausted, I believed that sunshine comes after the storm.” He has also found encouragement from the adults who work with him each day: “Teachers and coaches at VCS have supported me by encouraging me to go further than I thought I could.”
That determination carries into his schoolwork. Eason has done well academically and is a member of the National Honor Society, while also making time to serve others. During a mission trip to Mexico, he volunteered at Door of Faith Orphanage. Closer to home, he helps with the Children’s Ministry at Crossroads, the church he has attended for nearly four years. These experiences reflect how he understands leadership: “Leadership is not just having a title. It is being an example, bringing positive influence, and being willing to sacrifice for others.”
Alongside those opportunities, Eason values the friendships he has formed at VCS. Getting to know students from different backgrounds and participating in school life have helped him find a sense of belonging. For him, being part of the community includes both challenging himself and encouraging others. “Being a Falcon means pushing yourself beyond your limits while supporting your school and team, and growing as a scholar, athlete, and person.”
As he looks toward graduation, Eason is applying to several universities, including the University of Pennsylvania, UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Irvine, and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He is also considering the University of Hong Kong. His next step will bring new opportunities, building on a high school experience that has included academic achievement, athletic challenges, friendships, and service.
Through it all, Eason’s faith has grown, too. As he reflects on his time at VCS, he describes a lesson that reaches beyond the classroom or a race: “Being at VCS has helped me see that faith is not only knowledge, but something you live out daily.”
