Travis Family

We’re the Travis Family, along with our village of grandparents, the Stewards and Redics. We’ve been at VCS for two years.

What do you love about VCS?

We love the small nurturing environment. We love all the fun activities the school allows us to be a part of. We love the willingness to say, “We don’t know everything, but we are trying and willing to get better.” We love the school spirit! Most of all we love the dedication and energy of the teachers and staff!

Why did you choose VCS for your children?

As an African American family, it is hard to find schools and staff that give you the same love and nurturing as anyone else. We want to belong, we want to feel loved, we want our teachers to acknowledge that our children are smart, and we want our children to be encouraged and to be recognized. We chose VCS because we heard it was the best, and our girls deserve the best. We chose VCS because we wanted our girls’ education to have a foundation of faith, and we want to ensure their relationship with God is strong enough to last throughout their lives. We stay at VCS because they are willing to learn and grow to get better and better day by day.

In what ways have you seen your children grow in their faith since coming to VCS?

Our girls have been exposed to church both within school and outside of school, all of their lives. It is so amazing and exciting to see how they grow and how they think on their own, yet with a background of their faith in God. They don’t always have to agree with the exact sermon, but they are able to pull from each experience, the main message that God wanted them to hear. It helps us as parents feel secure in their ability to be faithful Christian’s throughout their lives no matter where they go, or what they face.

What is the one word your family would use to describe the Vacaville Christian School experience?

Lively

What would you tell other parents who are considering enrolling their children at VCS?

There is no such thing as a perfect school, or a perfect teacher. God didn’t make any of us perfect. Yet, he blessed us with the ability to grow and learn from our mistakes. If you want your child to know how to grow and learn from their mistakes, celebrate their wins with respect, and love their neighbors, all while having great fun, then VCS is the place for you! We only live once, so choose to live life to the fullest!
