Please share anything that you'd like us to know about your military career.

I (Lou) just retired from the US Air Force after 26 years of active duty service in the Hospital Administration career field. My job has taken me to many states and countries, but my assignment at Travis Air Force Base was the most adventurous, where I deployed to Niger, Africa, and to Afghanistan for the withdrawal of US forces. I had the honor of leading the last US medical unit in Afghanistan, the pinnacle of my career.

Please tell us your student’s names and grades.

Why did you choose VCS for your children?

We wanted to intentionally place our kids in an environment that was centered on Christ, knowing they would be nurtured and loved by like-minded people who loved the Lord as much as we do. We wanted them to learn skills and attain knowledge necessary to succeed in today’s world, while building their character to help them become the people God designed them to be.

In what ways have you seen your children grow in their faith as a result of their experiences at VCS?

While we’re a new family this school year, we have already felt the peace in our family in making this decision. Our children are more confident in themselves as children of God and they feel more secure knowing they’ll be with like-minded students.

What is the one word your family would use to describe the Vacaville Christian School experience?

Blessing

What would you tell other parents who are considering enrolling their children at VCS?

I would encourage parents to “go for it” as there is nothing to lose in having faith in a God-centered place like VCS. You’re never “wrong” for placing children in a school that instills and supports the character of Jesus’ people, especially when they’ll be loved and nurtured by the amazing staff. More so, I would urge the parents to become highly involved in VCS, whether it be on a volunteer basis, or becoming part of the VCS team. I’m excited to start my next career as a VCS English teacher in middle school. I’ll be close to my kids (and not deployed!) while sharing my heart with other children, too.

During the time we’ve been at VCS, our family has fallen in love with our school community. Both of our children have been welcomed with open arms and felt a strong sense of belonging.

Don’t be afraid of something different. By different I mean the staff cares about your heart. They care about you as a person, not just a student.
