Elementary School

Welcome to a thriving, joyful environment where students feel safe, loved, and accepted. Our students work hard to master the fundamentals in each subject area, while embracing life, building friendships, and learning self-governance.

At Vacaville Christian School we strive for excellence. We seek to provide a place where children can grow spiritually, academically, and socially in a caring and challenging environment.  Where they feel loved and grow in confidence.

VCS is richly blessed with a dedicated and experienced staff, each of whom are committed to academic excellence and building Christ-like character in our students. We strive to offer a variety of learning experiences that will inspire innovative thinkers and confident life long learners. We believe that each of our students is equipped with God given gifts, and we offer a variety of opportunities for students to discover their potential.

It is our mission to partner with parents to provide an excellent education grounded in a Biblical worldview. Parents are encouraged to become involved in their child’s educational experiences, such as field trips, classroom parties, Parent/Teacher Fellowship (PTF), and other school activities. We understand that educating a child takes teamwork. It is important that parents and teachers work together to provide the best education possible.

Above all, our goal is to teach children to seek the Kingdom of God and to glorify Him in all we do. We firmly believe in Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” We strive not only to instill Christ-like character in our students, but also to train them how to apply scripture to their daily lives.

It is a privilege and a blessing to serve as the elementary principal of such an outstanding school and be a part of what God is doing here at VCS! If I can be of any further assistance to you, please contact me through our school office.

In His Service,

Ms. Karyn Kempton
Elementary Principal

Get To Know Our Heart

Our elementary school is outstanding! Serving students from kindergarten through 5th grade, we have an excellent curriculum that sets a solid foundation for a lifetime of learning and service to God. We support our curriculum using materials from Christian publishers such as Abeka, Bob Jones, ACSI, and Standard, in addition to Houghton Mifflin. Our fourth and fifth graders benefit from our iPad mobile cart, which rotates among the classrooms and gives our teachers the opportunity to reinforce learning with the newest technology.

In addition to our core curriculum, we offer art, vocal music, computer technology, P.E., band, library, and STEM Makerspace learning as enrichment opportunities. We offer GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) in 3rd through 5th grade. And we have plenty of extracurricular options to choose from, including ACSI spelling bees and speech meets, student council, Post Office (our award-winning, department-wide system), worship team, prayer team, athletics, and other specialty clubs.

Extracurricular Opportunities & Extended Care

Read up on the curriculum for each grade level, so you’ll know what to expect from the current school year.

We recognize that working parents have need of quality care for their children before and after school, and we are happy to provide for this need through our extended care program. The focus of our program is to give students an environment that encourages them to learn new things, meet new friends, and have fun “just being a kid.”

We’ve designed our school-age program (for grades K – 8) in such a way as to encourage students to use and expand the knowledge they obtain in school. Our trained and dedicated staff members are on hand to lead your children through homework, arts and crafts, group games, team building activities, and much more. We know your child works hard all day, so at the end of the day we want to make sure that active recreation is a part of the daily extended care experience.

Morning Extended Care: Extended Care hours are 6:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. VCS Food Services offers breakfast items for students to purchase from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m., during morning Extended Care. Students have an opportunity to participate in table games or small group activities and have a short recess break before starting their school day.

Kindergarten – 8th Grade After-School Extended Care: The K-8th Grade Extended Care program offers a balanced after-school program. Students enjoy a variety of activities as well as study hall time. Study Hall is a quiet time set aside for students to do their homework, review for tests, or read quietly. VCS Extended Care offers a variety of activities to enhance your child’s learning and social experience.

We know the importance of offering choices, so we have designated Afterschool Enrichment Classes as a part of our students’ choices in offering an array and variety of classes each session. Some of the examples your child can sign up for and experience are as follows: Robotics, Wood Shop, Sculpture, Culinary Arts, Pottery, Foreign Language, Painting, Sketching, Dance, Taekwondo and Sewing. These classes help students improve social skills, increase levels of self-esteem and confidence, develop leadership and decision-making skills, gain new hobbies and hidden talents they never knew they might have, and much more! For further information about our K – 8th Grade Extended Care programs, please e-mail Dulce Hill, or give her a call at (707) 446-1776, ext. 4550.

VCS offers clubs for Elementary, Middle and High School students. Developing a well-rounded child involves exposing a child to opportunities where they can learn more about themselves, their community, broadening their world-view, and participating in clubs that excel and highlight their strengths. We offer clubs of common interest and nationally recognized clubs that offer graduation honors.

Elementary School Clubs: Choir, Newspaper, Post Office, Student Government

VCS is a Christian school with a heart for missions and serving our local community. Each year, VCS students participate in mission-based projects. Middle School and High School students are required to serve in a volunteer capacity a minimum of 20 hours during the school year as a part of our missions program and bible classes.

During the month of November, VCS emphasizes the importance of giving back to our local community. From Early Education to High School, our students participate in canned food drives, collecting money, collecting clothing, personal hygiene items, and small toys to benefit Solano County food banks, the Storehouse, Mission Solano, Alpha Pregnancy, and other ministries.

VCS partners with The Leaven to provide tutoring for students outside of VCS in grade K – 8th.
