ABOUT

Ben Davis joined VCS in June 2018 as the Head of School.  Mr. Davis holds Bachelor of Arts Degrees in History and Religion from Hillsdale College and a Masters of Educational Leadership from the University of Colorado.  Mr. Davis has been a strategic educational leader for independent schools for over seven years.  Mr. Davis has excelled quickly in education over the last nine years from the classroom to vice principal, principal and Head of School.

Scott Jacobs

ABOUT

Scott Jacobs, affiliated with VCS since 2002, became a board member in 2010 and currently serves as Chairman of the Board. He and his wife, Lu, have five children, two of whom attend VCS. Scott holds a BA in broadcast management from the University of Southern California and has been a local business owner in Vacaville since 1993 with Country Visions, Inc. (franchisor of Apricot Lane Boutiques) and 3StrandsGlobal.com, supporting organizations in the fight against sex trafficking around the world. His portfolio at VCS includes advancement, board development, marketing and graphic design, website development, Destiny, and various school fundraising events such as the Otis Spunkmeyer cookie fundraiser, VCS Golf Classic, and the VCS Annual Crab Feed.

Seth Jamel

ABOUT

Seth Jamel, affiliated with VCS since 2005, became a board member in 2017 and currently serves as a member at large.  He and his wife, Theresa, have three children, two of whom attend VCS.  Seth holds an Associates of Science degree from Yuba College and has been in law enforcement for 23 years.  Seth is currently a motorcycle police officer for the City of Fairfield, a drill instructor at the Safety Academy and serves as a member of The Father’s House security team.  In addition to serving on the VCS board, Seth actively serves the VCS campus with his involvement in Cops on Campus and he is the Booster Club Board liaison.

Dr. Bejan Pazdel

ABOUT

Dr. Bejan Pazdel, affiliated with VCS since 2002, became a board member in 2005 and currently serves as a Vice Chairman. He and his wife, Darelyn, have two children attending VCS, and one who graduated from VCS in 2013. Dr. Pazdel majored in molecular biology at San Jose State University and earned his doctor of chiropractic from Life Chiropractic College. Dr. Pazdel’s board portfolio and VCS activities include chairing the Pathway to Promise campaign, serving as a past treasurer of the board, and currently serving as team doctor to several VCS and area sports teams. Dr. Pazdel is a member of Parkway Community Church and mentors youth as a scoutmaster in the community.

Becky Craig

ABOUT

Becky Craig, affiliated with VCS since 2015, joined the board in 2017 as a member at large.  She is President of the Vacaville Chamber of Commerce, which represents and provides resources for the local business community. She is a CPA and previously worked in local government finance and management for over twenty years.  Becky, her husband Jeremy, and their children worship and serve at Crossroads Christian Church in Vacaville. Additionally, Becky is volunteer Treasurer of the Vacaville Swim Club, for which both children practice and compete, and is a board member of the Vacaville Museum. Their daughter, Elaina, is in middle school and their son, Andrew, is in elementary school.

Anthony W. (Tony) Grafals

ABOUT

Anthony W. (Tony) Grafals, affiliated with VCS since 2010, became a board member in 2015 and currently serves as a member at large. Tony has practiced law since 1997 and currently works as General Counsel for the Golden Rain Foundation of Walnut Creek, a nonprofit corporation that administers a trust that provides services to a private community with about 10,000 residents. Tony’s wife Sara is active in volunteering at VCS when she is not working at her full-time job as VP of Finance at Sonoma Raceway, or helping to raise their two children, Sydney and Christian, both of whom are VCS students. The couple married in 1991 and moved to California in 2000 from Alabama, where they met while attending college at Troy State University. Tony and his family are members at Crossroads Christian Church in Vacaville.

Amy Kennedy

ABOUT

Amy Kennedy, affiliated with VCS since 2000, became a board member as of 2013. She currently serves as a member at large. Amy is the Veterans Affairs Coordinator at Solano Community College and has over 15 years of experience in California higher education. She and her husband, John, and her son Aaron attend Valley Church in Vacaville. In addition to serving on the VCS Board, Amy also serves in the California Community College Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO) as veteran representative for region two, CCCCO veteran representative for disabled student programs, United States Army Northern CA Grassroots Board member, and the California board member for the United States Selective Service System.

Jason Smotherman

ABOUT

Jason Smotherman, affiliated with VCS since 2013, became a board member in 2018 and currently serves as member at large.  He and his wife, Brooke, have two children, both of whom attend VCS, in elementary and middle school.  Jason holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology from Global University and is currently the Youth Pastor at Harvest Church in Vacaville.  He has served as a youth pastor for over 15 years, oversees the operations RISE24 (a local non-profit), Fuel the Fire ministry internship program at Harvest Church and serves as a leader for the Padan Elementary after school program.  In addition to serving on the VCS board, Jason volunteers his time as a middle school boy’s basketball coach, Chapel special speaker for elementary and high school, sponsors ESPY Awards and is an annual supporter of the VCS annual Crab Feed.
