Student Activities
Middle School students have the opportunity to participate in many activities throughout the school year. In addition to our regular “spirit” rallies, last year the Middle School Student Government hosted an extremely successful Caribbean Christmas Social in December and a fun-filled bowling outing in March. In addition to those all school activities, Our 7th grade had an opportunity to step back in time with the first, annual Renaissance Faire, held on our campus.
The school year begins with a spiritual emphasis as all our students go on a retreat featuring special speakers, activities, and fellowship times. The 6th graders go to Wolf Mountain for three days for an outdoor education, science, and Bible-based camp with experiments, challenge courses, and activities. The seventh and eighth graders head for Koinonia Christian Conference grounds for three days of themed messages, cabin competitions, times of praise and worship, and activities. The spiritual emphasis of each camp helps to set the tone for the new year as well as build and strengthen friendships among the students.
Each grade level had a special Science Night that featured activities that expounded upon their specific curriculum. The 6th graders’ Science night highlighted their weather unit, while the 7th grade Science Night enabled students to experience vegetation, animals, and foods from many biomes, and the 8th grade Science night displayed the creative machines the students had designed and built in addition to having a contest where teams tried to drop raw eggs in insulated containers of their own design.
Each class attends field trips. The 8th graders went to Washington DC for five days, the 7th graders went to San Francisco and enjoyed a Bay Cruise, a visit to the Gharadelli Candy Factory, a tour of a WWII Submarine, and a tour of the WWII Liberty Ship, the USS Jeremiah O’Brien. The sixth grade class enjoyed a performance at the Sacramento IMAX theatre and a trip to Six Flags Marine World.
