Course Fee:In French Two, students build on the foundation which they learned in French One. Students will expand their ability in speaking, reading, writing, and listening. They are now learning approximately 80 new vocabulary words per unit, of which there are eleven. Culture remains an important part of the lessons. The course expands on verbs in the present and preterit tenses. It also includes the imperative, imperfect, and conditional tenses. Instruction in class is mainly given in French, and students are required to use French as much as possible during class. Each lesson includes all of the necessary vocabulary for students to refer to while speaking. During class time, students present role plays and speeches to increase their confidence in their speaking ability. Students learn to write more complex sentences and paragraphs, as well as short essays. Some of the functions learned are: asking for information, inquiring about details, describing past events, describing physical traits, talents, and abilities, telling a location, hypothesizing, asking for permission, explaining a problem, expressing hope, and making suggestions. Students are required to do written work and memorization as homework, with approximately 30 to 60 minutes per day. The text used is C’est A Toi! Level Two, Published by EMC Paradigm.
Pre-Requisites: French I
Co-Requisites: A grade of “B” or better in English 8 and teacher approval. Students must end each year in Spanish with a grade of “D” or better

Course Fee: $25 each semesterThe goals of the Concert Choir are to increase individual performance ability, music reading ability, knowledge and appreciation of the varied repertoire performed and to perform quality choral literature (in four parts) of various styles and genres, allow an opportunity for students to perform and compete at the ACSI Choral and Solo/Ensemble Festival, to share with all students a musical experience that leaves them confident in their own musical abilities
The Concert Choir performs at school concerts, festivals and school-related functions. At this time auditions are not require for Choir, but are required for Daybreak. All students interested in Daybreak must be a part of Choir also. Students must maintain a level of proficiency and involvement in order to enable the student to be a contributing member.
Using a variety of music, students will be trained in the following vocal skills: Tone production, music literacy and appreciation, auditory perception, expression and dynamics, communication, critical listening.
There will be a formal and casual dress code required for concerts and performances. Students are expected to be at ALL performances

Course Fee:This course is a 1 to 2-year course open to students who Passed HS Instrumental Music Studies I and II. An audition with the instructor is required.
The design is to build on the knowledge and artistry of the student in musical performance, music theory, as well as an understanding of a diverse range of musical and cultural expression through study, rehearsal and performance. Students have the opportunity perform in a symphony orchestra, Jazz ensemble as well as chamber ensembles. Additional outside class work including private lessons, home practice, and scheduled master classes in music theory, solo and small ensemble preparation, concert performances and evening and weekend orchestra rehearsals is required.
HS Advanced Instrumental Music Studies I and II is part of a 4-year course of study for a graduate certificate in instrumental music studies at Vacaville Christian High School.

Course Fee:This course is a 1 to 2-year course open to students who have Passed HS Instrumental Music Studies I. An audition with the instructor is required to show exceptional abilities for this course.
The design is to build on the knowledge and artistry of the student in musical performance, music theory, as well as an understanding of a diverse range of musical and cultural expression through study, rehearsal and performance at an honors level. Students have the opportunity perform as a major leader and/or player in a symphony orchestra, Jazz ensemble as well as chamber ensembles. Additional outside class work including private lessons, home practice, and scheduled master classes in music theory, solo and small ensemble preparation, concert performances and evening and weekend orchestra rehearsals is required.
HS Honors Instrumental Music Studies is part of a 4-year course of study for an honors graduate certificate in instrumental music studies at Vacaville Christian High School.
