2nd Grade Overview
Welcome to Second Grade. We are very excited to start this school year! Second Grade is filled with fun, learning and experimenting. There are a lot of opportunities to learn, especially during our planned Field Trips; Apple Hill, the Zoo, the Theatre, the Sticker Factory, the Herb Farm and more. We will enjoy Friday Frolics every week. During this time, we get to work on our art projects by sculpting, painting, sketching and drawing. We will celebrate our Birthdays and have playful competition with each other.
By the end of the year, the students will have succeeded in learning special math skills like finding perimeters of polygons, reading pictographs, and line and bar graphs to name a few. In Language, they will be able to use the writing process to develop different types of compositions and perform their reference skills. In reading, the students will be able to locate and recall information, identify concepts about the characters, setting, or plot that the author implies and much more. In Spelling vocabulary will be expanded by using word forms and word shapes. Students will also form a correct visual image of current spelling words.
As your Second Grade Teachers, we promise to make this year very special and enjoyable. Our goal is to work together to give the students the opportunities to learn and use their skills which will perpetuate their independence.
