Why settle for sound when you
can have EXTRAORDINARY?
As I reviewed the Academic Vision Statement from the Strategic Plan, I came upon
this statement. The goal
of the overall academic program is to develop and strengthen each student's knowledge
and abilities
in a wide range of curricular areas including mathematics, science, language arts,
social studies and
foreign language. This is done by providing a sound teaching environment, led by
committed and
qualified teachers, who teach a proven and accredited curriculum to our students.
The phrase, "sound teaching environment" jumped off the page. Why just
sound? Why not extraordinary?
Why should we limit our fine faculty and superb student's horizon with what is here,
what is physically in
front of them? What if we gave them a tool that limited their environment to their
imaginations? What
could we expect from these two groups? Simply, we could expect unchallenged excellence.
Enter the iPad, a portal to all the information that the world has to offer. Yet
not a journey that is
unguided, but one that is co-charted by dedicated educators, chasing time proven
academic goals,
and students, fueled by the excitement that an almost limitless tool can provide.
As the 2011 school
year opens, so will the door to the world be flung wide open to our faculty, students,
and their potential.
Let "sound" be gone, let, "limitless begin". Welcome to the education of the 21st century. Welcome to VCS...
