Message from Steven Peters, Principal

It is an honor to begin my first full year as the Principal of Vacaville Christian High School. We have been working diligently to prepare for the 2009-2010 school year, and look forward to continuing many successful facets of our program which resulted in a six year term of accreditation from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). VCS is very blessed to be dually accredited; recognized for excellence in both the Christian and public sectors.

We are extremely excited to be implementing new programs to include Academic Decathlon, already meeting with Mr. Clark and looking forward to the spring 2010 competition, and Virtual Enterprise which may result in up to six college credits in business from Solano Community College. VCHS now offers 9 Advanced Placement courses as well, hoping to build upon the achievement of Government and Economics, an area where Mr. Rusty Gaudard led our students to noticeable success. With the combination of these new courses (including AP Biology, Psychology, English Language, US History, Studio Art), and dual enrollment/credit (high school, college), many students are sure to increase their opportunities to be accepted to the college of their choice.

As always, the arts program, both fine and performing, will be in full swing. With opportunities to participate in a hugely successful jazz band, award winning choir, and excellent drama program, students will surely get a chance to showcase their talent.

Our athletic program, already successful, will be looking to build upon past success and make a statement this year, especially in football, where Coach Smith has scheduled perennial small school powerhouse Ferndale High School and added wrestling to the mix under new coach Eric Wilson.

In wishing to reach out to a hurting world, VCHS is focusing on Christian Community Service this year through directing service hours to such programs as the Leaven Project and Groves (Tutoring), our sister school (San Francisco Academy in the Tenderloin), Mission Solano, and others. These are important ministries that are outreach oriented and offer opportunities for the spiritual growth and formation of our students.

God bless VCHS (and VCS) this 2009-2010 school year. We pray that our light shines brightly in Vacaville, the surrounding communities, and all whom we come into contact with. We pray to strive hard for success in academics, activities, and athletics, while maintaining Christian character and a burden for one another and the lost. We pray to be a pleasing aroma to the one and true God, and to be examples in respect, love, and service to one another as exemplified by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In Christ,
Steve Peters
