3rd Grade Overview
Your child's third grade year will be focused on increased proficiency with foundational skills and preparation for continuing education. New aspects of core subject matter will be introduced, such as cursive handwriting, long division and art appreciation. We will also be working toward increased understanding and mastery of previously introduced materials, such as the multiplication table, critical thinking and creative writing skills. Additionally, students will be exposed throughout the year to a variety of supplemental courses such as band, choir, physical education, Spanish, and computer lab.
Your child's education will be enriched with several fieldtrips throughout the year. These outings will be used as a medium to further explain and supplement classroom instruction, as well as provide an opportunity for positive peer interaction. Examples of such fieldtrips are Pollardville (an old west town), Lawrence Hall of Science in Berkeley and Explorit (science museum/instruction) in Davis.
