Infant/Toddler Classroom (Ages 6 week to 30 months)
Our Facility Number for the Infant/Toddler Center is 480108958.
For our Infants: 6 weeks to 18 months
The infant to teacher ratio is 1 to 4. Children are assigned to caregivers. This allows bonding which is crucial for healthy emotional development. Beyond being qualified by the State of California, our teachers also take great joy in their work as a ministy. This can be seen in daily activities. Babies are held and cuddled when fed their bottles; diapers are changed at least every two hours; we sing, read and play with the children. The babies are introduced to Baby Signs.
Our physical environment is clean, safe, and fun! There is a lot of "floor time" for the development of crawling, rolling, and sitting up. As the babies grow and there are younger children also playing, we teach the older ones how to be gentle with their younger playmates. Our sleeping room is quiet and monitored with individual assigned cribs.
Food is provided by the parent, not the center. We feel this provides for a closer monitoring of intake as well as watching for allergy development. We do not participate in the State Food Reimbursement Program (a school-wide policy of avoiding state and government influence.)
We clearly understand that parenting is a God-given responsibility; God has chosen YOU to be the parent of your baby. We are here to assist you, not take your place. It is a privilege to help care for your child, and we will do so with all our hearts.
For our Toddlers: 18 to 30 months
Our teacher to student ratio in the Toddler Room is 1 to 6. We offer a modified pre-school type of day, with activities designed to challenge and enhance your child's growth.
Here's just a partial listing of what your child will be learning:
- Sign language
- Table manners
- Language development
- Music
- Self-help skills
- Social skills
- Art expression
- Bible stories and principles like God's love, each child's uniqueness, thankfulness, kindness, sharing, etc.
- Potty training
Our large, fenced playground offers many opportunities for large motor skill development, and plenty of grass for running, rolling, and games. A circle time helps develop listening skills. Story time and related art activities promote language development and self-expression. You can feel assured that your child will have many different things to do each day!
We know that your child is always growing and learning. We will work closely with you in toilet training techniques (and our success rate is very high). We will help you in the transition from the Toddler Center to the Preschool when your child is ready. VCS offers quality Christ-centered education for your child all the way to high school.
